This hour-long video features members of Physicians for a National Health Program recounting their recent trip to Canada to speak with doctors there about Canada’s Medicare system. Although there is much to admire about Canada’s system, the PNHP members do point to a few problems. These are problems that we can work to improve upon as we advocate for and move into our own public healthcare system. Still, what stands out in the members’ report is how Canadian doctors have a better quality of work life compared with American physicians. In addition, the pressure to make a profit and all the pathologies that flow from that are non-existent. Now, if only we could bus groups of skeptical Americans up to Canada to take the same tour!
