This is the last straw. Our so-called “affordable” insurance, through AARP Aetna, will not cover preventive colon cancer screening, except once every TEN years — and then only if the screening is “routine” vs. “diagnostic.” Colon cancer screenings are some of the most critical procedures for individuals over 50.
After one year of paying $380 and more per month, AARP Aetna has raised the premium 15%. But still, no colonoscopy more than once every TEN years. AARP-care is a joke! And, did I mention, as we are independent contractors who have not been paid for over six months, we have eaten through almost all of our retirement savings.
