The purpose of insurance is to share the risk. That’s why it puzzles Ken Howard when he hears people say they don’t want to pay for somebody else’s health care. After all, we’re all going to get sick or old someday. That’s why single payer, universal health care works. Everybody’s in, nobody’s out. It’s the only way to be fair and save money at the same time.
