Actor Melinda Peterson is diabetic, so she is grateful for her husband, Phil Proctor’s, health insurance. Without it she would be uninsurable because of her preexisting condition. Fortunately, they love each other, but too many people are stuck in bad relationships just so they can keep their health insurance. As Melinda says, “marriage should be about love, not health care,” That’s why they support single payer, California OneCare. It would mean everyone would be covered regardless of their marriage or job or health status.
